Nancy Ma is an actor, filmmaker, and teaching artist from Chinatown New York. She recently wrapped her first documentary short, 有一天,你不在 one day you are not here (NYFA Women’s Fund recipient, En Foco Media Arts Awardee), and is currently developing a narrative film & stage play, Sweatshop Melody. Her writing has been supported by The New Harmony Project, Fresh Ground Pepper NYC, and Asian American Arts Alliance. She is a Performing artist-in-residence at The Museum of Chinese in America and a National Arts Club Artist Fellow.

Her solo show “Home,” produced by The Latino Theater Company, premiered at The Los Angeles Theater Center, and has been performed at festivals and schools around the country. Acting credits include Bull (CBS), Barry (HBO), Hacks (HBO), Support (On the Verge, Ojai Playwrights), Three Little Girls Down a Well (UTR, The Public), Memorial (Pan Asian Repertory Theater), The Joy Luck Club (Sierra Madre Playhouse).

Nancy is a storytelling facilitator for The Moth and a writing mentor for Young Storytellers. She is a 2024 Brooklyn Arts Council SU-CASA teaching artist. She has led workshops with Girls Who Code, The Bramon Garcia Braun StudioCreate Now, and Change Agents. She played competitive ultimate frisbee for too many years, and is obsessed with Grace Lee and Jimmy Boggs. Obsessed.
